Flor's daughter Christina, through which this story is told in a college letter to Princeton University, serves as a translator for the beginning of the film, but after Flor breaks the communication bridge by learning to speak English, Christina must learn that things come and go in life, but family is the most important thing a person can have.

Eriprando Visconti's 1969 film 'The Nun of Monza' is often hailed as one of the founding entries of the nunsploitation genre; and one of the best, but Bruno Mattei obviously didn't feel that Eriprando Visconti told the story properly and so, for reasons of artistic integrity I'm sure, decided to make his own version; entitled 'The True Story of the Nun of Monza', in order to right whatever wrongs were present in the earlier version of the film. Well, it would seem that the older one simply wasn't trashy enough and didn't feature enough nudity, and Mattei certainly corrected that; although the rest of the film suffers as a result. The plot focuses on Sister Virginia de Leyva; a nun who becomes the Mother Superior of her convent in Monza. However, all is not rosy as the nun is plagued by dreams involving various forms of debauchery; and her problems aren't just limited to her sleep either, as it turns out that the convent is also a place of sin as her fellow nuns enjoy lustful encounters with one another.This film was apparently shot at the same time as Mattei's other nunsploitation flick, The Other Hell and while this film is not very good; it is at least better than the more well known one. The original Nun of Monza was actually quite a high quality nunsploitation flick; and while this one is of a higher quality than some entries in the genre, it's still clearly a trashy eighties film. Still, the film is not a complete dead loss. Bruno Mattei may have hit the nunsploitation genre a little bit too late; but he still manages to create an often interesting tale. Much of the film is taken up by various sex acts and demonic imagery; but the director does manage something in the way of a foreboding atmosphere and the film is usually somewhat interesting. However, too much of it is dragged out and it feels like its never really going anywhere; which is even more disappointing considering how heavy the story in the original film was. However, Mattei fans may find something to like here and I wouldn't hesitate to call this the director's best foray into this genre.

Story : Charlie is an American stage actress working in England. She is neither Arab or Jewish, but is openly supportive of the Palestinian side in the Middle East conflict, although her ultimate want is for Middle East peace with an end to the current bloodshed characteristic of the conflict. However, through an elaborate set-up, the Zionist factions in the conflict recruit her to work on a campaign to uncover the person behind the name "Khalil", a Palestinian who has been orchestrating the killings, through the delivery of crude bombs, of prominent Jews. The Zionists want someone like Charlie in the role who has a real and credible non-Jewish back story, and someone who can act in the needed undercover work. Charlie agrees if only because of her growing romantic connection to one of the recruiters, Joseph, who she originally thought was a prominent Palestinian activist named Michel who happens to be Khalil's brother. She also agrees on the understanding that she would not be directly involved in the killing of anyone. As Charlie gets further into her role, she has conflicting emotions about Joseph. She also comes to the realization that both sides will do whatever they need to to achieve their end goals.

This energy builds and flows from one exciting song to the next; even the slow ballads are so full of power that it is hard to sit still; this film is a testament to the power of Prince... it is the definitive demonstration of his awesome talent; the live versions of these songs, including a "Little Red Corvette" sing along, make the studio album sound sterile and that is something damned-near impossible to do to Prince (And only Prince could do it!) If you want to see him at his peak, this is it!! There is dancing, singing and music, music, music. The band includes some members of the Revolution and some future NPG members, but the real stand-outs are Cat, Sheila E. and Bonnie Boyer. If you have only heard the studio album, check this film out...so good it'll make you slap yo' mama!!

I never quite understood why this movie received such low marks from the majority of users. It's a beautifully filmed piece of art that poses some important questions about one of Belgium's worst nightmares : the apparently senseless murders of dozens of innocent people during the late 80's. Of course I can see why this movie would shock or even confuse people. Le Bal Masqué does not give answers (although the main 'conspiracy' theory of an involvment of the Belgian crown is suggested), it uses close-ups to emphasize that we are blind to the truth. Yes, this is not an easy movie, but if you know a little bit of the background of the story (Bende van Nijvel/Tueurs du Brabant) then you will be blown away.

This was about a godfather type mafioso (Peter Falk) that was just released after spending 19 years in prison. He makes up with his daughter (Emily Lloyd) and together they pull a real caper on the other head of the crime family, in addition to doing a con job on the local DA to help him snuff out the other family head. A very funny movie. It was good to see Peter Falk in a part where he was the criminal instead of the detective. Bob Gunton, who played the warden in the Shawshank Redemption is the DA. Also watch for Jerry Lewis.
